Creating Values from your Data Science learning to your Everyday life
Data science is the sexiest job recently, and I argue that it would always be. That is why we try to learn about data science to be employed in the data field.
However, data science is not limited to job purposes; it could be much more. You could create values out of your data science learning.
What values could we have from learning data science? Let’s get into it.
Data Science could help you decide better.
Data is everywhere, and our decision is often based on data. Sometimes you might not even realize that data support your decision.
For example, what Covid-19 vaccines brands do you want to take?
People who follow the news closely might decide the brand based on the efficacy shown in the experiment—which might affect your decision.
But, someone who did not follow the news might not care about the efficacy. However, the brand reputation could still affect the decision, which we indirectly saw on the internet or hear from someone talking about it.
The amount of news we are exposed to is data by itself. Which, in the end affects our decision—you do not realize it.
Data also help my decision to pursue a career in the Data field. You can read the article here.
Data Science helps to track your own life
Our life is full of data, your geolocation information on Google Maps, your searching history, walking amount, and many more.
Everything you do is basically recorded.
Then why don’t we utilize all this data to track our lives and analyze what our life is like?
Prior to learning data science, I wasted all the data I had by ignoring them.
But, after I learned how good data science is in analyzing our data and predicting the outcome, I tried to keep all my data around.
For example, here are is articles on how data science used on the sleeping data.
Your learning could open a New Opportunity.
Initially, your learning might be intended to find employment in the data world.
However, your learning could be much more than that. It could become a way for new opportunities.
When shared right, your learning progress could become the way to a breakthrough in data science or even additional income.
Take Kurtis Pykes, who starts by sharing his learning and now steadily gets freelance opportunities.
Or Khuyen Tran, who loves to share daily tips about data science and is now considered one of the best data influencers.
It is similar to me as well. I started writing what I learned about data science as a way for me to remember things.
But now, everyone has started to learn from my blogs, and I feel happy about it. Moreover, it helps me financially.
If you think you can’t do it because you don’t have the experience, remember that many who did not have experience in data science manage to create new opportunities out of nothing.
Learning as a way for networking
Many people in recent times are interested in Data Science, and it means you could find meet people with the same interest.
People from various walks of life are eager to learn data science—from students, professionals, professors, retired, and many more.
From my learning time, I remember that I learned together with people from different backgrounds; economy, law, literature, engineering, etc.
All people I meet are thanks to me being active in approaching people within the learning group.
You can find many study groups now either from LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and many more. Furthermore, if you are learning through DataCamp, FreeCodeCamp, DataQuest, or others, you would find students to connect with.
Don’t be afraid to approach someone in your data science learning. Data science topic is always a good topic starter.
Data science as an investment for future
Suppose you have already started learning data science, congratulation! You are way ahead of many people.
Data science has become a part of everyday life. From your YouTube recommendation, Google Map optimization, to Face Recognition—it is everywhere.
Sooner or later, whether you are directly employed in the data job or not, data capability would be useful because data is everywhere.
For example, marketers now need to analyze the data before initiating a campaign, or product owners would use data to develop the best product.
The learning certainly would become a great asset for your future. So, whether you want to stay in the data field or not, take the learning seriously.
